Lightfield Medical - DOYLE

FEATURES

Collaborative framework to build a structured and scalable database, together with a research and innovation roadmap for the development of ophthalmology solutions based on image processing and AI.

IMPACT

Prioritization of research lines according to their value, feasibility, and impact, establishing the foundation on which we are jointly developing what will become the AI and ML capabilities of Lightfield’s medical device.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The value of the partnership lies not only in developing the solution but also in enabling Lightfield Medical to build its own judgment to decide which AI capabilities it needs and to access cutting-edge knowledge.

BUSINESS PROBLEM

Lightfield Medical is developing Captura™, a new approach to digital slit-lamp image acquisition. Structured datasets of anterior-segment images can provide the foundation for future research and innovation lines with significant potential impact in ophthalmology.

To realize this potential rigorously, Lightfield needed structured and accessible data, clear clinical context, well-defined use cases, and a partner specialized in data science and AI, capable of aligning product, operations, and clinical workflow requirements from a technology perspective.

DRIBIA’S SOLUTION

Dribia acts as Lightfield’s strategic data and AI partner. The collaboration began with a discovery session to identify where data could create value, analyze real needs, and prioritize a roadmap based on feasibility.

Building on this starting point, Dribia supports the design and development of the data infrastructure and processes required to work with large volumes of structured image datasets, on which we develop Machine Learning models, while also actively contributing to image processing for future research applications.

Review note — any reference to AI, automated analysis, diagnostic applications or subsequent clinical applications describes exploratory concepts and future possibilities, not current features of Captura™. Captura™ is under development, is not yet commercially available and currently does not provide automated image analysis, diagnostic outputs, screening, measurements or clinical decision support.
