“Dribia is an excellent collaborator for experimental and innovative data-driven projects. They provide cutting-edge tools and their methodology facilitates a clear definition of expectations and the achievement of results with rigor and good pace. We are very happy to work with them”.
FEATURES
Indoor location system that does not require calibration and operates through a network of IoT devices with wireless communication.
IMPACT
Indoor location capability in less than 1.5 seconds, with an error of less than 5 meters horizontally and 3 meters vertically, and without requiring calibration.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Enables an SDK for the development of indoor location services, taking advantage of the great capillarity and coverage of Simon’s connective devices in indoor environments.
BUSINESS PROBLEM
Locating people indoors remains a complex challenge. Existing technologies tend to require specific hardware — which is difficult to scale and inflexible — or calibration processes that are costly in both time and maintenance. Overcoming this barrier opens the door to new value-added services, such as contextual location-based experiences, guidance features, and other advanced utilities.
Simon has a wide range of connected devices, with known location and wireless communication capabilities, which constitute an ideal base for developing additional digital services without the need for specific infrastructure, adding value to the basic functionality of the device.

DRIBIA’S SOLUTION
Dribia has developed a Bayesian inference algorithm that, given a fleet of connected devices with known positions, is able to estimate the location of signal sources present in the environment. When the user shares their signal detections with the system, the system can accurately infer their position in space. The algorithm operates in less than 1.5 seconds and has achieved an error of less than 5 meters in validations carried out with experimental data and in different real environments.
